Arnold and Stephanie Siegel
"Take a little, leave a little and we'll all have some." This was the hand-blocked request carved into the pantry door of a cabin Arne and Steffi Siegel stumbled upon out hiking one day as a young couple. That brief message on the pantry door reminding fellow ranchers of their part in the community struck a chord with Arne and Steffi and became the cornerstone of their personal approach towards philanthropy. As donors to the SAE Foundation and other foundations, Arne and Steffi are living their philosophy and what it means to be part of a larger community.
Arne and Steffi share a passion for education and believe that it is a key to an individual's success. Arne's association with SAE spans his 50-year career in transportation safety, accident and injury analysis and the biomechanics of injury. Since 1994, Arne has served as a Trustee of the SAE Foundation and has dedicated himself to the expansion of the A World In Motion® program. Steffi, an accomplished psychotherapist and distinguished author, shares Arne's commitment to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and the SAE Foundation.
Arne and Steffi divide their time between Encino, CA and West Yellowstone, MT. The home they've made in Montana is a large part of their current philanthropy. One of the gifts Arne and Steffi have made to the SAE Foundation is an endowed fund to support the expansion of A World In Motion throughout Montana and eventually throughout the Rocky Mountain rural states. Many schools in Montana are small schools with few students and with limited course offerings. Supporting programs like A World In Motion offers teachers in remote schools the opportunity to provide students with innovative, engaging STEM education.
"Remember-take a little, leave a little and we'll all have some," say the Siegels.
