The SAE Foundation is the charitable arm of SAE International, which strives to encourage and increase student participation and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
A recognized leader* for innovative programs, the SAE Foundation serves to help today's students become tomorrow's scientists and engineers.
Alcoa recognizes that today's students are the technology leaders of tomorrow. The Cleveland Metropolitan School District Initiative exposes fifth grade students to science and engineering concepts and provides teachers with professional development, industry volunteer support, and A World In Motion® (AWIM) classroom materials. Alcoa has been supporting the AWIM program in Cleveland Schools since 2007. "As Math and Science Chairman of the SAE Cleveland Section, I interact with the teachers, students and Alcoa volunteers. AWIM teaches students basic engineering principals and teamwork. The program excites students and they look forward to the volunteers. It is important to expose kids to engineering; it is key to positioning the United States as a leader. Alcoa is touching the lives of thousands of Cleveland Schools kids."
