Strengthening Wyoming Communities Together

Through the SAE A World In Motion® (AWIM®) AmeriCorps program, service members have the power to make a difference and change the lives of PreK-12 students throughout Wyoming communities. This unique service opportunity expands vital access to STEM education for young learners to help them discover their full potential and succeed in future education, careers, and life.

Service members receive a living allowance and are eligible to earn the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. Upcoming service cohorts will work with school and community-based organization site partners based in Albany, Laramie, and Natrona counties.

Serving through AmeriCorps allows you to get to the heart of what people and communities need, and see the positive outcomes of your own contributions. I was rewarded with new friends, countless new skills and abilities, clarity about my passions and direction in life, confidence, new perspectives, and so much more.”

– Victoria Wiseman, AmeriCorps Alum

About AWIM

SAE’s award-winning A World In Motion® (AWIM®) program is an inquiry-based, hands-on learning experience that brings STEM concepts to life, providing students with knowledge and skills to help them succeed in future education, careers, and life. Starting with the youngest learners, from preschool through 12th grade, AWIM combines practical, experiential learning with mentorship from industry volunteers and ongoing training and support for educators to advance equitable access to STEM.

Funds raised by the SAE Foundation support the AWIM education program, Collegiate Design Series™ (CDS), awards and STEM scholarships.

About AWIM AmeriCorps Wyoming

Starting in 2023, this new SAE AWIM AmeriCorps program will focus on serving students, teachers, families, and communities to increase access to life-changing, hands-on STEM learning experiences. Since 2019, nearly 2,000 Wyoming youth have participated in AWIM.

With long-term plans to expand statewide, initial focus supports expansion of the AWIM program in three WY counties: Albany, Laramie, and Natrona. AmeriCorps members will support capacity building and outreach through:

  • Introducing the AWIM program to educators
  • Recruiting and coordinating local community volunteers
  • Training and support of local educators, community partners, and volunteers
  • Supporting AWIM program implementation and competitions, such as JetToy, Straw Rockets, and Fuel Cell

Together, we can prepare students with knowledge and skills they need to succeed in future education, careers, and life. Funding for the AWIM AmeriCorps program in Wyoming comes from ServeWyoming, a state commission for AmeriCorps.
