Lori Gatmaitan

Lori Gatmaitan is a social impact leader who connects people and organizational resources with meaningful community investment opportunities through an analytical, strategic, and sustainability lens. She serves as the SAE Foundation Executive Director where she provides leadership and philanthropic focus. After an early career in engineering, Lori invested 10 years in development and nonprofit management prior to joining SAE in 2012. Her experience includes directing programs for large and small nonprofits in healthcare, human services, and higher education always with a focus advancing equity and creating positive change in local communities and worldwide. Lori focuses on linkages between mission, organizational strategy, program innovation, and donor passion.

Lori serves on the Board of Directors for the Engineering Society of Detroit and as an advisor for various health and human service organizations in the Metro Detroit area. She is a member of Inforum, a professional women’s alliance, and the Center for Automotive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She graduated from Kettering University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and received her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, with a concentration in Non-Profit Management, from Robert Morris University. She is a National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional. Crain’s Notable Women in Nonprofits recognized Lori in 2018.

She finds that what makes her most happy is (decaffeinated) coffee, reading, running, yoga, volunteering and more than anything, spending time with her family which tends to be mostly at hockey rinks, on gymnastics floors, and along the beautiful shores of Michigan. Lori lives in Metro Detroit with her husband, two children and dog.
