Polestar

In 2021, Polestar Automotive North America committed to help the SAE Foundation implement engaging, project-based learning experiences to prepare the next generation with knowledge and skills for the electrified future. The SAE A World In Motion ® (AWIM) Electric Vehicle (EV) Afterschool program launched in September at Oasis- A Haven for Women and Children in New Jersey for students in 5th and 6th grade. Employees from Polestar volunteered and provided funding to make this a life-changing experience for students in the Paterson, New Jersey area which culminated in December with students racing the EV cars they designed and built in a friendly competition. 

Polestar Automotive North America pledged to continue to support hands-on, minds-on STEM education in partnership with the SAE Foundation through the AWIM program. This funding will support the ongoing AWIM programming at Oasis A Haven for Women and Children and the expansion in South Carolina, California, and Montreal, Canada. 

The future could not be brighter as Polestar and SAE work together to bring the AWIM program to additional Polestar areas of operations where employees live and work throughout North America. Polestar employees at the Ridgeville, South Carolina site will be volunteering in a special education class at Summerville High School in Dorchester School District to enrich learning through the AWIM program for more than 30 students.  

During the second half of 2023, students in Montreal and California will have access to hands-on STEM learning experiences through AWIM with support from Polestar employee volunteers.
