SAE Internationalâs A World In Motion Curriculum Earns Two Grants from Michigan STEM Partnership

SAE International’s award-winning science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program, A World In Motion®, has been awarded two grants totaling $45,000 from the Michigan STEM Partnership.

AWIM is a teacher-administered, industry volunteer-assisted program that brings science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education to life in the classroom for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Benchmarked to the national standards, the AWIM program incorporates integrated STEM learning experiences through hands-on activities that reinforce classroom STEM learning.

These two grants of $25,000 and $20,000 and will support distribution of the AWIM program in the St. Clair Hub area and the Bay Hub area, respectively.   Together these grants will serve over 2,000 students throughout the target Michigan STEM Hubs. This work will include distribution of the National Science Board Public Service Award winning A World in Motion Curriculum, classroom learning supplies and teacher professional development.

“We are extremely honored and excited to receive these grants from the Michigan STEM Partnership,” Chris Ciuca, Director of Pre-Professional Programs for SAE International, said. “This funding will help us continue to introduce STEM subjects to students in Michigan’s St. Clair and Bay hubs and ignite their interest in future STEM careers.”

The Michigan STEM Partnership is a statewide, non-profit public-private collaborative that includes educators, employers, policy-makers, and others who are concerned about addressing the current lack of STEM skills in schoolchildren and job applicants. “We are very excited to be a part of this outstanding opportunity for Michigan students throughout our St. Clair and Bay STEM Hub areas,” said Christine Cloud-Webb, Interim Executive Director of the Michigan STEM Partnership.
