Ford Motor Company’s Fields Named SAE Foundation’s Industry Leadership Awardee

The SAE Foundation announced today that it will honor Mark Fields with its Industry Leadership Award at a celebration event on May 24, 2016, at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan.

“The Industry Leadership Award is our opportunity to pay tribute to the career accomplishments and philanthropic spirit of the men and women who help spark curiosity and inspire greatness for students in communities across the country. We thrilled to be able to recognize the extraordinary efforts and remarkable impact Mr. Fields has made as a business and civic leader,” said Lori Gatmaitan, Director, SAE Foundation.

As it has set the engineering standards in the mobility industry for more than 105 years, so too has SAE International set the standard for STEM education by the design of its unique brand of programming. This model, which uniquely combines project-based learning with real-world experience, and builds bridges between education and business by involving industry professionals in the classroom, is proven and heralded among teachers and volunteers alike. The SAE “Total STEM Solution” reaches all students to ignite an interest in STEM and builds STEM skills foundation at every educational level.

Fields is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company. He will join a list of other industry leaders who have been honored with the prestigious award, including:

The evening includes an interactive reception where guests network with top industry executives and local K-16 students who participate in SAE’s A World In Motion®, F1 in Schools™ and Collegiate Design Series™ programs.
