James Parison of Bose Corporation Honored with SAE International/Magnus Hendrickson Innovation Award

James Parison, a Distinguished Engineer, Automotive Division, with the Bose Corporation, has been awarded the prestigious 2017 SAE/Magnus Hendrickson Innovation Award.

The award, in its inaugural year of presentation, honors Magnus Hendrickson, the renowned inventor and businessman who founded the Hendrickson Motor Truck Company in 1913. Supported by a generous gift from Hendrickson, the award recognizes an individual or team whose work has created significant, positive change in the commercial vehicle industry and has elevated vehicle dynamics to new levels of innovation.

“Hendrickson is elated that we can support this innovation award and pay homage to the Hendrickson name after more than 100 hundred years of serving the industry,” said Gary Gerstenslager President and Chief Executive Officer of Hendrickson.

Parison holds the title of distinguished engineer at Bose, where he guided the concept, development and production of the Bose Ride system. An inventor with dozens of patents to his credit during his 30 years at Bose, Parison continues to pursue other applications of Bose suspension technology.

Parison earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire. He also earned his master’s degree from New Hampshire, specializing in electrical engineering and control theory.

Prior to joining Bose, Parison researched electromagnetism at a motor firm in West Germany. From 2010-2016, he served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, where he was a member of the Science and Technology Committee and chairman of the Telecommunications Oversight Committee
