SAE A World In Motion STEM Education Program Named SIIA CODiE Award Finalist

We are excited to announce the SAE A World In Motion® (AWIM®) PreK-8 STEM education program was named a finalist in the “Best Foundational Technology/Engineering (STEM) Instruction Solution” category. Recognizing excellence in technology, the CODiE Awards is the only peer-reviewed program to showcase business and education technology’s finest products and services.

Combining teacher-led instruction with practical experiential learning and mentorship from industry volunteers, AWIM brings STEM concepts to life—setting students on a path of lifelong learning and discovery. Each of AWIM’s 17 grade-appropriate STEM Challenges are aligned and benchmarked to national education standards.

External evaluation and results from a 10-year teacher survey show very strong student engagement based on AWIM’s ability to capture and hold student interest across the full spectrum of learning styles, skills, and abilities. After using AWIM with students, 98% of teachers reported AWIM increases excitement about learning STEM topics; 96% reported AWIM increases students’ understanding of STEM topics; 91% reported improved academic performance in STEM-related areas.

”SAE is thrilled to be announced as a finalist for the SIIA CODiE awards for the AWIM program,” commented Lori Gatmaitan, Director SAE Foundation. “We are committed to providing every student access to hands-on, relevant STEM curriculum. AWIM is designed with our educational and industry partners to develop the skills most coveted by future innovators and support teacher delivery of high-quality programming without having to do more in the classroom.”

CODiE STEM finalist certiificationCODiE Award finalists represent the best applications, products, and services from developers of educational software, digital content, online learning services, and related technologies in the PreK-20 sector. Educators and administrators serve as expert judges and conduct the first-round review of all education nominees. Their scores determine the SIIA CODiE Award finalists which accounts for 80% of the overall score. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products and the scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners.

“The CODiE Awards recognize the most exciting and transformative products in Ed Tech,” said Jeff Joseph, SIIA President. “This year, these leaders helped our nation respond to the historic pandemic, enabling learners, educators, administrators and parents to remain connected to each other and to critical educational resources via an array of innovative services and platforms. Congratulations to this year’s finalists for demonstrating the vitality, resilience and importance of this important industry.”

SIIA CODiE Education Technology category winners will be announced during an online winner announcement celebration June 22, 2021.
